Place
Plac - free, undeveloped urban space, usually in the shape of a rectangle or square, limited by buildings, streets, greenery, mostly excluded from traffic. Often, the square is dominated by a characteristic building or group, and within it there are usually monuments, columns, fountains, posters and other small architectural objects. Most of the city squares are places of concerts, happenings, demonstrations, rallies and other mass events, and can also serve as a marketplace or car park. The first places were built in the cities around 6000 years ago as a place of trade. The main squares of the ancient cities of Rome were called the Forum, while Greece was the Agora. In the medieval towns, the town hall, the town hall, the city hall, etc. were built, and the main roads converged there, called the market square. Public places in the present form come from Renaissance Italian cities. The largest public square in the world is the Tian'anmen Square in Beijing, which covers an area of 0.44 km².
