Ricercar

Ricercar

Ricercar - a form of music developed in the 16th and 17th centuries, composed for solo instruments or ensembles of instruments, and in the early period also for vocal performance. There are two types of titles: imitation and free. Ricercar evolved from a modified motet. In its development, the first was the reduction of the number of topics, followed by the introduction of complex technical measures such as augmentation and diminution, thus approaching the form of joint. In the middle of the sixteenth century, G. Cavazzoni began to compose ricercars for organs, and his followers were G. Gabrieli and G. Frescobaldi. Free Ricercar was created at the beginning. XVI century and derives from lute music in the form close to the preludes. Over time, this form was approaching the imitation ricercar, but all the time it referred to the form of a prelude, developing the figurative technique that gave rise to the tocate. The creators of the free ricer were, among others. Fr. Petrucci, S. Gintzler, W. Bakawark and V. Galilei. Twórcami ricercarów swobodnych byli m.in. O. Petrucci, S. Gintzler, W. Bakawark i V. Galilei.
