Spectrophotometry - a measurement technique that quantifies the transmission or reflection of light by a sample. Since the mid-twentieth century, it has been the main tool of absorption and reflection in near ultraviolet and visible light, and has also been used in infrared, for a wide range of applications in analytical chemistry, biology, medicine and material research.
