Zurwan - the infinite deity worshiped in antiquity in Persia. Trenches of deprivation were found on the Babylonian tablets of the 15th century BC. It is suspected that Zurwan was worshiped by the peoples settled, for he was a symbol of the changes taking place in nature. In Persia, during the reign of the Parthians, he became the supreme deity of religion called zuranism, popular mainly among intellectuals. He merged the present aspect of infinite time with the aspect of infinite space. From this period comes the myth of the birth of Ahura and Aryan from the womb of Zurwana. According to this myth, Zuran felt lonely in the empty world, so he made an eternal sacrifice. As the victim was waiting, Zuran patiently waited, but finally, after a long time, he doubted. Then two sons were born - Ormu was to be born as the fruit of the sacrifice, and Arman was the fruit of the doubt. Zuwan divided the time of Ormuzd and Aryan's reign for periods of 3,000 years. In Zoroastrianism, Zurwan is a genius of time under Ahur.

Podejrzewa się, że Zurwan był czczony przez ludy osiadłe, gdyż był symbolem przemian zachodzących w przyrodzie. W Persji, za panowania Partów, stał się najwyższym bóstwem religii zwanej zurwanizmem, popularnej przede wszystkim w kręgach intelektualistów. Połączył w sobie dotychczasowy aspekt nieskończonego czasu z aspektem nieskończonej przestrzeni. Z tego okresu pochodzi mit o narodzinach Ahury i Arymana z łona Zurwana. Zgodnie z tym mitem, Zurwan czuł się samotny w pustym świecie, więc złożył z siebie trwającą wiecznie ofiarę.
