Anabaptist

Anabatista

Anabaptists or Anabaptists ("re-baptizers", from the Greek ανα (again) + βαπτιζω (baptizar) in German: Wiedertäufer) are sectarian Christians of Anabaptism, the so-called "radical wing" of the Protestant Reformation. The Anabaptists did not form a single group or church, for there were several groups called generically "Anabaptists" with different and divergent beliefs and practices. They were so called because the converts were baptized only in adulthood, so they re-baptized all their proselytes who had been baptized as children, believing that true baptism only has value when people consciously convert to Christ . In this way the Anabaptists disregarded both Catholic baptism and the baptism of Lutheran, Reformed, and Anglican Protestants.
