Charles Baudelaire

Charles-Pierre Baudelaire was a Bohemian poet or dandy or flâneur and theorist of French art. He is considered one of the forerunners of Symbolism and internationally recognized as the founder of the modern poetry tradition, along with Walt Whitman, although he has related to various art schools. His theoretical work also profoundly influenced the plastic arts of the nineteenth century. He was born in Paris on April 9, 1821. He studied at the Royal College of Lyons and Lycée Louis-le-Grand. In 1840 he was sent by his stepfather, preoccupied with his unruly life, to India, but never reached his destination. Stops on the island of Réunion and returns to Paris. Attaining the majority, he gains possession of his father's inheritance. For two years she lives between drugs and alcohol in the company of Jeanne Duval. In 1844 his mother enters into justice, accusing him of being prodigal, and then his fortune becomes controlled by a notary. In 1857 is released The flowers of evil containing 100 poems. The author of the book is accused, in the same year, by the justice, to outrage the public morality. The copies are seized, paying the fine of 300 francs and the publisher 100 francs.
