Biomaterial

Biomaterial

Biomaterial is a substance or mixture of substances, natural or artificial, that acts in biological systems partially or totally, with the purpose of replacing, increasing or treating. Some examples of biomaterials are prosthetics, implants, contact lenses and pacemakers. It should be noted that the presence of biomaterials is essential for the manufacture of these same utensils. Sciences such as nanotechnology, tissue engineering and materials engineering have together developed important advances in the field of biomaterials. The whole manufacturing process encompasses several important steps: from material selection, where there is a wide range of options, taking into account that metal or metal alloys, ceramic materials, composites, polyester fabrics or meshes and polymers of nature varied; analysis of quantities; possible reactions in the body; these stages where the role of the sciences mentioned above is of crucial importance. It is then fundamental a process, all of it meticulous, so that the result is expected and consequently so that the consumer is satisfied.
