Bratislava

Bratislava (German: Pressburg (Preßburg) in Hungarian: Pozsony) is the capital and main city of Slovakia, situated southwest of the country, near the border with Austria and, on the border with Hungary, the only European capital situated on the border of his country with two others. The city is also cut by the Danube River in its course. With 427 thousand inhabitants, it is the largest city in the country. The Carpathians, one of the notorious European mountain ranges, begin in the territory of the city (Malé Karpaty, "Small Carpathians"). Headquarters of the Slovak presidency, parliament and government, Bratislava also has universities, museums, theaters and all the infrastructure common to major cities in the political, cultural and social life of the West.
