Camorra

The Camorra is the only mafia phenomenon coming from an urban environment. His birthplace is Naples, Italy; the date, around the beginning of the 19th century. The Camorra closely controls the territory, and is very integrated with the social fabric, especially among the poorest strata. It is estimated that it currently has about 110 operational families and about 7,000 affiliates. Camorra's activities are uncountable, from scrounging to extortion, from cigarette smuggling to drug trafficking, from the illegal import of meat to fraud to the European Union. Without forgetting the two "traditional" monopoly sectors: the clandestine game and the cement production in the Campania region.
