Count (Ancient Rome)

Conde (Roma Antiga)

Comes is a title created in the Roman Empire to distinguish the land owners, according to the extent of these lands. Later the title happened to be called Count, who was superior to the Viscount who in turn was superior to the Baron. After the Count the Marquis and the Duke would have been titles of land, that were distributed by the State or Emperor, for the preservation of the "Pax Romana". Comes é um título criado no Império Romano para distinguir os propritários de terras, de conformidade com a extensão dessas terras. Posteriormente o título passou a ser chamado de Conde, que era superior ao Visconde que por sua vez era superior ao Barão. Depois do Conde ter-se-ia o Marquês e o Duque como títulos de terra, que eram distribuidas pelo Estado ou Imperador, para preservação da "Pax Romana".
