Bigamy

Bigamia

In cultures that practice conjugal monogamy, bigamy is the act of entering into a marriage with one person while still being legally married to another. Bigamy is a crime in most Western countries, and when this occurs, in this context, often neither the first nor the second spouse is aware of the other. In countries where there are laws for bigamy, the consent of one of the spouses before makes no difference to the legality of the second marriage, which is generally considered void.
