Lares

Lares

Home, Homes are Roman domestic deities. Initially associated with the proto - Roman Mane - deity of the dead - the Homes were worshiped in the primitive domestic cult as embodiments of their ancestors. In The Ancient City, Fustel de Coulanges deals in detail with the formation of Roman proto-civilization and incorporation and its parity with other civilizations and Eastern customs. Homes are also taken with the sons of Mercury and Lara, and have been worshiped by the Romans for many centuries. The Home is associated with the sacred fire, kept lit by the Vestals in the temples, as well as the fire kept in the domestic altar, where his guard is passed from father to son, generation after generation by the Etruscans and laziness. The association of domestic worship to the Homes with the cult of the dead and their hereditary responsibility to the sacred fire of the domestic altar, or Agni, is repeated in almost all European and largely Asian cultures. Even in the Americas there are variants of the same myth and its association with deities or domestic geniuses, such as Saci.
