The Logos, in Greek, originally meant the written or spoken word-the Word. But from Greek philosophers like Heraclitus came to have a broader meaning. Logos becomes a philosophical concept translated as reason, as much as the capacity for individual rationalization or as a cosmic principle of Order and Beauty. In Christian theology the philosophical concept of the Logos was to be adapted in the Gospel of John, the evangelist refers to Jesus Christ as the Logos, that is, the Word: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word is God. "John 1: 1. The Logos can also be seen as the "Reason" of all things, and the cause explains the human existential longing so discussed by philosophy. For many Christians, the life of the person who became known as Jesus Christ did not begin here on earth. According to this understanding, he himself would have spoken of his pre-human celestial life.
