Mucosa

Mucosa

Mucosa is a type of epithelial lining of internal lining of the body cavities that have contact with the external environment. "The epithelium of the small intestine, for example, consists of a simple layer of cylindrical cells, which allow it to perform its main function: to absorb food, so that these cells have folds - microvilli or microvilli - that increase the area In this case, the protection of the organism is made by mucus, a viscous substance formed by glycoproteins and produced by special cells - the goblet cells - found in various organs. Mucosa is the name given to the set consisting of epithelium plus connective tissue that lines the body's moist cavities, in contrast to the skin where the surface is dry. Therefore, cover places such as the mouth, intestine, bladder, etc. Its connective tissue is called its own blade or chorion.
