The United Nations, or simply the United Nations, is an international organization whose stated objective is to facilitate cooperation in international law, international security, economic development, social progress, human rights and the realization of world peace. The UN was founded in 1945 after World War II to replace the League of Nations with the aim of stopping war between countries and to provide a platform for dialogue. It contains several subsidiary organizations to carry out its missions. There are currently 193 member countries, including almost all sovereign states in the world. From its offices around the world, the UN and its specialized agencies decide on administrative issues at regular meetings throughout the year. The organization is divided into administrative bodies, namely: the General Assembly; the Security Council; the Economic and Social Council; the Human Rights Council; the Secretariat, the International Court of Justice.

Organização das Nações Unidas, ou simplesmente Nações Unidas, é uma organização internacional cujo objetivo declarado é facilitar a cooperação em matéria de direito internacional, segurança internacional, desenvolvimento econômico, progresso social, direitos humanos e a realização da paz mundial. A ONU foi fundada em 1945 após a Segunda Guerra Mundial para substituir a Liga das Nações, com o objetivo de deter guerra entre países e para fornecer uma plataforma para o diálogo. Ela contém várias organizações subsidiárias para realizar suas missões. Existem atualmente 193 países-membros, incluindo quase todos os Estados soberanos do mundo. De seus escritórios em todo o mundo, a ONU e suas agências especializadas decidem sobre questões administrativas em reuniões regulares ao longo do ano. A organização está dividida em instâncias administrativas, principalmente: a Assembleia Geral; o Conselho de Segurança; o Conselho Econômico e Social; o Conselho de Direitos Humanos; o Secretariado, o Tribunal Internacional de Justiça.
