Potosí

Potosí is the capital of the province of Tomás Frías and the department of Potosí, Bolivia. Its population, according to the census of 2009, is of 194 298 inhabitants. It is located at 3 967 meters of altitude, being one of the highest cities in the world. There is a lot of culture to be shared with those who come to visit Potosí. Its population is mostly humble, in general, people with low level of schooling and low income. The Bolivian population has the face usually marked by traces of indigenous ancestry, with brown skin and dark hair and eyes. Potosí is known for its vast architectural heritage. The Gothic Cathedral, the Mint or Tomás Frias University are good examples of this heritage. Potosí é a capital da província de Tomás Frías e do departamento de Potosí, na Bolívia. Sua população, de acordo com o censo de 2009, é de 194 298 habitantes. Está localizada a 3 967 metros de altitude, sendo uma das cidades mais altas do mundo. Há muita cultura a ser compartilhada com quem vier visitar Potosí. Sua população é na maioria bem humilde, em geral, pessoas com baixo nível de escolaridade e de renda baixa. A população boliviana tem a face marcada geralmente por traços de ascendência indígena, com pele morena e cabelos e olhos escuros. Potosí é conhecida pelo seu vasto património arquitetônico. A Catedral Gótica, a Casa da Moeda ou a Universidade Tomás Frias são bons exemplos desse património.
