WHAT DOES TUBIXABA MEAN IN PORTUGUESE?

Cacique

The chief is the denomination of the American Indian chiefs. The term was spread by Portuguese and Spanish; the use of this term Aruaque was due to the fact that the Aruaque Indians were the first Amerindian peoples contacted by the European navigators of century XV. Despite the use of the term "cacique" by the European settlers throughout America, each indigenous group from different regions of the continent had a denomination and design proper to its leaders. Mburovixá is the denomination that the Guarani people gave to their leaders. For the Tupi, the denominations were morubixaba, murumuxaua, muruxaua, tubixaba and tuxaua. Curaca was the term used for a kind of mayor among the Inca peoples of Andean lands at the time of the invasion promoted by the European colonization. In Amazonas the story of the tuxaua Ajuricaba of the tribe of Manaus, named in the gallery of 25 national heroes, became legendary. In both Portugal and Brazil the term "cacique" became synonymous with a local party leader who regrets voters based on the exchange of favors.
