The volt, or vóltio, is the unit of electric voltage of the International System of Units, which denominates the potential of transmission of energy, in Joules, by electric charge, in Coulombs, between two distinct points in the space. It was baptized in honor to the Italian physicist Alessandro Volta. Thus, to say that the voltage between two points corresponds to a volt is to say that each charge of a Coulomb that moves between such points transmits a Joule of energy. Foi batizada em honra ao físico italiano Alessandro Volta. Sendo assim, dizer que a tensão existente entre dois pontos corresponde a um volt é o mesmo que dizer que cada carga de um Coulomb que se movimenta entre tais pontos transmite um Joule de energia.
