ázimă (ázime), s. f. – Pîine de aluat nedospit. – Var. azmă. Mr. adzîmă, megl. azim. Gr. ἄζυμος (Murnu 9, Diculescu, Elementele, 472). Este cuvînt popular, probabil intrat în rom. din primele secole ale creștinismului; cf. ven. azme, calabr. áyimo, port. asmo, (REW 850). – Der. azăm, adj. (care nu fermentează; se spune în Trans. despre conservele în oțet sau saramură care încă nu s-au făcut); azimioară, s. f. (turtă); azimit, s. n. (înv., sărbătoare a azimei, în religia iudaică), din ngr. ἀζυμίτης.
