caducé n., pl. (cadduceus caduceus and caducéum from caducéum, which comes from the virgin kerýkeion, d. kéryx, announcer, it caducéo). A branch of laurel of olive groves with a hill at the top and surrounded by snakes. It was an attribute of Mercury, a merchant god, and a symbol of peace, prudence and cunning (snakes), and of charms, and of witches. caducéŭ n., pl. eĭe (lat. cadúceus și cadúceum din caducéum, care vine d. vgr. kerýkeion, d. kéryx, anunțător; it. caducéo). O ramură de laur saŭ de măslin cu doŭă aripĭ în vîrf și înconjurată de doĭ șerpĭ. Era atributu luĭ Mercur, zeu negoțuluĭ, și simbolu păciĭ, prudențeĭ și vicleniiĭ (șerpiĭ) și al hărniciiĭ și ĭuțeliĭ (aripele).
