Veche monedă austriacă de argint. – 6. (Olt., înv.) Monedă de argint de 5 lei. – 7. Inuman, crud, feroce. – Var.(s)gripțor, gripsur, (s)gripțur. Mgr. sau ngr. γρύψ „vultur” (Pascu, Suf., 56; Candrea; Scriban), cf.v.sp.gripĭsĭ (Vasmer, Gr., 620, it.grifo (Battisti, III, 1870). Pascu presupune că rezultatul rom. se datorează adăugării suf. -ur; este mai curînd vorba de un rezultat *grips,pl.gripsuri, cu un sing. analogic. – Der.sgripțuroaică,s. f. (vrăjitoare bătrînă, femeie rea).
