Mr., megl.chiarsic.Lat.(malus) pĕrsĭcus (Diez, I, 314; Candrea-Dens., 1387; REW 6429), cf.it.pesca,calabr.p(i)ersica,prov.persega,fr.pêche,sp.prisco (varietate de piersică), port.pecego,basc.mersika. – Der.piersică,s. f. (fructul piersicului), cf.alb.pieškë (Philippide, II, 651); piersiciu,adj. (de culoarea piersicii). Rut.persyk provine din rom. (Candrea, Elemente, 406), ca și, probabil, rus.persik (părerea lui Sanzewitsch 207, cum că rom. ar proveni din rusă, nu e probabilă).
