Aunt (or uncle, cousin, etc.) of poplar = distant relative. \u0026 # X25ca; Compounds: white poplar = poplar species with smooth bark, grayish-white and with the silver leaves on the bottom (Populus alba); poplar-black = poplar species with cracked, dark-colored bark, whose softwood is used in industry and whose bark is used in leather tanning (Populus nigra); poplar-trembling (or-mountain) = poplar species whose leaves tremble at the smallest wind of the wind (Populus tremula). \u0026 # X2013; Lat. * ploppus (= pop (u) lus).
