WHAT DOES STRABO MEAN IN ROMANIAN?
Strabo
Strabon (Strabo) -in the latinized version of Strabo (n. 63 or 60 BC Amasa Pontica- (today Amasya) - d., 21 or 26 AD), was in fact a nickname, meaning Sasu, carried by a historically famous ancient Greek geographer. He studied in Asia Minor, Armenia, Greece, Rome and Alexandria and traveled to Europe, Africa and Asia Minor to the Red Sea. The first historical sketches, contained in 47 books, written probably between 27 BC. Hrs and 7 AD, quoted by the authors who followed them, were almost entirely lost. He then wrote Geography based on his own observations and the works of his predecessors, including Homer, Eratosthenes, Polybius, and Poseidonius. The work contains, in addition to historical material, a series of descriptions of places (climate, relief, hydrography) and peoples, with ethnographic and mythological aspects, constituting a rich source of knowledge about the ancient world.
