Electron, e - or β - symbol negatife is a subatomic particle which is the basic electric charge. Electrons belong to the first generation of the basic Lepton particle family and are usually considered as elementary particles because they have no components or sub-structures. Proton has about 1/1836 mass. In the quantum mechanical properties of the electron, the ħ unit, which means fermion, has an internal angular momentum with a half integer value. According to Pauli's principle of excision, two electrons can not be in the same quantum state because they are fermions. Like all particles, the electron is both a particle and a wave, so it can collide with other particles and break like light. Observing the properties of electrons as waves is much easier than observing this feature of neutron and proton particles because mass is less and De Broglie wavelength is higher for typical energies.

Elektronlar temel Lepton parçacık ailesinin ilk jenerasyonuna aittir ve genellikle temel parçacıklar olarak düşünülürler çünkü bileşenleri veya alt-yapıları yoktur. Proton’un yaklaşık olarak 1/1836’sı kadar kütlesi vardır. Elektronun kuantum mekaniği özelliklerinde fermiyon anlamına gelen ħ ünitesinde yarım tam sayı değerinde içsel bir açısal momentum vardır. Pauli’nin dışlama prensibine uygun olarak, fermiyon olduğu için iki elektron aynı kuantum durumunda bulunamaz. Bütün parçacıklar gibi, elektron da hem parçacık hem de dalga olma özelliği vardır ve böylelikle diğer parçacıklarla çarpışabilir ve ışık gibi kırılabilir. Elektronun dalga olarak özelliklerini gözlemlemek nötron ve proton gibi parçacıkların bu özelliğini gözlemlemekten daha kolaydır çünkü kütlesi azdır ve böylelikle tipik enerjiler için De Broglie dalga boyu daha yüksektir.
