Icon or icon; the people and events that are considered holy in Eastern churches; wall, mosaic or wooden paintings. Greek eikon is the word "similarity, painting, portraiture". This word comes from the Greek eikenai roots. The icon is an integral part of the ritual. It is not the product of religious art. It is based on symbolism and is associated with a sacred sanctuary that reflects a spiritual view of religion. The church, in the 8th and 9th centuries, had to determine the meaning of the icons in the depression of the icon. The religious meaning was formed in the 7th consortium. The iconic artist is not an artist who reflects personal views, but a means of expressing the view of the church, like a pastor who directs the rituals. Ikonnun has a foundation for Christianity: Jesus is not only a promise of God, but an image at the same time. The icon in the basic sense is the image of Jesus, embodied without human touch; the image of her mother and her saints is also goddess.

İkon veya ikona; doğu kiliselerince kutsal sayılan kişi ve olayların; duvar, mozaik veya ahşap üzerine yapılmış temsili resimleri. Türkçeye Fransızca icône sözcüğünden geçmiş olan kavramın kökeni Yunanca eikon "benzerlik, resim, portre" sözcüğüdür. Bu sözcük ise yine Yunanca eikenai kökünden gelir. İkon, ayin düzeninin bütünleyici bir parçasını oluşturur. Dinsel sanatın ürünü değildir. Simgeciliğe dayanır ve tinsel bir din görüşünü yansıtan kutsal sanata bağlanır. Kilise, 8 ve 9. yüzyıllarda ikonkırıcılık bunalımında, ikonların anlamını belirlemek zorunda kaldı. Dinsel anlamı, 7. konsilde oluşturuldu. İkon ressamı kişisel görüşü yansıtan bir sanatçı değil, ayinleri yöneten papaz gibi, kilisenin görüşünü dile getiren bir aracı olmuştur. İkonnun, hristiyanlığa ilişkin bir temeli vardır: İsa yalnızca Tanrı'nı sözü değil, aynı zamanda görüntüsüdür. Temel anlamıyla ikon, İsa'nın görüntüsünün insan eli değmeden cisimleşmiş halidir; annesinin ve azizlerin görüntüsü de tanrılaşmış bedene kavuşur.
