Reomur scale or Reomur thermometer; is a temperature measurement tool that accepts freezing and boiling points of water at 0 and 80 degrees. This thermometer is named after René Antoine Ferchault de Réaumur. This thermometer contains diluted alcohol and is built on a principle that accepts water freezing point 0. René Antoine Ferchault de Réaumur has suggested the use of boiling alcohol at 80 degrees in this thermometer. The reason for using alcohol instead of mercury in the thermometer is that the cuvant is much more expansive than alcohol.
