Web site, pages on the web; is a collection of documents that cover the entire pages that convey information or provide services to visitors in the form of text, images and animations. Visitors access a web site using a unique address consisting of the following components in HTTP or HTTPS protocols: ▪ www: World Wide Web ▪ domain: Domain Name ▪ com: TLD Top Level Domain ie the top level domain This address provides access to the necessary files, serves as a visual presentation. In addition, although web sites are not up to date, they also provide display services from a private ip address. Web sites began to be developed in 1991. Later on April 30, 1993, CERN introduced the WWW prefix to the internet users. On April 12, 1993, the first Internet connection was made in Turkey with a leased line between Ankara and Washington from ODTÜ.

Ziyaretçiler bir web sitesine, HTTP veya HTTPS protokollerinde aşağıdaki bileşenlerden oluşan benzersiz bir adresi kullanarak erişirler: ▪ www : World Wide Web ▪ alanadi : Domain Name ▪ com : TLD Top Level Domain yani üst seviye alan adı Bu adres gerekli dosyalara ulaşımı ve sergilenmesi sağlanarak ziyaretçiye görsel sunum şeklinde hizmet verir. Ayrıca web siteleri çok güncel kullanılmamasına rağmen özel bir ip adresinden de sergileme hizmeti verir. Web siteleri 1991'de geliştirilmeye başlandı. Daha sonra 30 Nisan 1993'te CERN tarafından WWW ön eki ile internet kullanıcılarının ulaşabileceği şekle getirildi. 12 Nisan 1993 tarihinde ODTÜ'den Ankara-Washington arasında kiralık hat ile Türkiye'de ilk internet bağlantısı gerçekleşti.
