Testis

The gland or testicle is the structure located on both sides of the penis from the male reproductive organs. The glands have roles such as secretion of the testosterone hormone, production of sperm and development of some physical characteristics specific to men. The two left and right glands located in the left and right side of the scrotum are part of the sperm ducts and contain a large number of vascular structures. The scrotum is a very important feature in terms of maintaining sperm function. Sperm cells are adversely affected by temperature changes and must be in an environment of about 2 degrees lower than body temperature in order to optimally perform their function. That's why it's out of the body. The heat inside the torso is lower than body heat and it shrinks in the cold, preventing heat loss. On the contrary, it warms to prevent sperm cells from being exposed to excessive heat. Although the testes are approximately the same size, they are structurally located slightly below the left side of the left testicle. Each testicle has small, highly curved sperm ducts.

Er bezi veya testis, erkek üreme organlarından penisin her iki yanında yer alan yapılardır. Er bezlerinin testosteron hormonu salgılanması, spermlerin üretilmesi ve erkeklere özgü bazı fiziksel özelliklerin gelişmesi gibi görevleri vardır. Skrotum içinde sağlı sollu yer alan iki er bezi, sperm kanallarının bir kısmı ve çok sayıda damar yapısı içeren bir yapıdır. Skrotumun sperm işlevlerini korumak açısından çok önemli bir özelliği vardır. Sperm hücreleri ısı değişikliklerinden olumsuz etkilenirler ve işlevlerini en iyi şekilde yerine getirebilmeleri için vücut ısısından yaklaşık 2 derece daha düşük bir ortamda bulunmaları gerekir. Torbanın vücut dışında bulunmasının nedeni budur. Torbanın içindeki ısı vücut ısısından daha düşüktür ve soğukta büzüşerek ısı kaybını önler. Sıcakta ise aksine sperm hücrelerinin aşırı ısıya maruz kalmalarını önlemek için gevşer. Testisler yaklaşık aynı büyüklükte olmalarına karşın yapısal olarak sol testis sağdakine göre biraz daha aşağıda yer alır. Her testis içinde küçük ve oldukça kıvrımlı sperm kanalcıkları bulunur.
