Timüs

Thymus is one of the primary lymphoid organs, such as bone marrow. The thymus organ is found in the upper mediastinal and in the anterior part of the lower mediastinum. The bottom reaches the 4th rib. There is a sternum in front, a pericardium and arcus aorta in the back. It is large and dark red in the early stages of life and after the youth ages it shrinks with age and then it turns into yellow with the grayish and then the fatty tissue infiltration. The thymus is turned into a thin capsule made from gland tissue. The capsule, like any other lymphoid organs, enters into the gland and separates it into sections. Each section has dark and light areas, respectively called cortex and medulla. Cortex is a dense T lymphocyte population, including epithelial reticular cells and a small number of macrophages. It is darker than medullary because it is rich in small lymphocytes. Blood, lymph vessels and nerves extend along connective tissue divisions. Timüs, kemik iliği gibi birincil lenf organlarından biridir. Timüs organı üst mediastende ve alt mediastenin ön kısmında bulunur. Alt kısmı 4. kaburgaya kadar ulaşır. Önünde sternum, arkasında perikard ve arcus aorta bulunur. Yaşamın erken dönemlerinde büyük ve koyu kırmızı renkli olup, gençlik çağlarından sonra yaşla birlikte küçülerek önce griye, sonra da yağ dokusu infiltrasyonu ile birlikte sarıya dönüşür. Timüs bezi bağ dokusundan yapılmış ince bir kapsülle çevrilmiştir. Kapsül, diğer lenfoit organlarda olduğu gibi bezin içine girerek onu bölmelere ayırır. Her bölüm korteks ve medulla adı verilen sırasıyla koyu ve açık renkte bölgelere sahiptir. Kortekste yoğun bir T lenfosit popülasyonu ve aralarında epitelyal retiküler hücreler ve az sayıda makrofaj vardır. Küçük lenfositlerden zengin olduğu için medulladan daha koyu boyanır. Kan, lenf damarları ve sinirler bağ doku bölmeleri boyunca uzanır. Medullada Hassal Korpüskülleri denen ve ne görev yaptığı bilinmeyen keratinize yapılar bulunur.
