Electromagnetism is a branch of physics that studies the electromagnetic force (a physical interaction between charge particles). Electromagnetic forces are usually expressed as electromagnetic fields, such as electric fields, magnetic fields and light. Electromagnetic force is one of the four basic interactions in nature. The other three basic interactions are strong interactions, weak interactions, and gravitational forces. Electrical and magnetic fields are closely related. Electromagnetics can broadly include electrical and magnetic, but in the narrow sense it is a discipline that examines the interrelationship between electricity and magnetism. English word electromagnetism is a combination of two Greek words ἢλεκτρον (ēlektron, "amber") and μαγνήτης (from "magnítis líthos" (μαγνήτης λίθος), meaning "magnesite", an iron ore). The science of studying electromagnetic phenomena is defined by electromagnetic force, sometimes called Lorentz force, which contains both electricity and magnetic phenomena. ...
