In organic chemistry, phenolic compounds (English: phenol) is a class of aromatic compounds of the general formula ArOH, the structure of aromatic hydrocarbons ring hydrogen is replaced by hydroxyl (-OH). The simplest phenol in phenolic compounds is phenol, also known as carburic acid C6H5OH. Although the structure is similar to alcohols, the nature of the phenols is relatively unique and is not a similar compound with alcohols, mainly because phenolic hydroxyl groups are attached to unsaturated carbon atoms. Since the aromatic ring of phenols binds closely to the hydroxyl oxygen atoms and the chemical bonds between the oxygen atoms of the hydroxyl groups and the hydrogen atoms are not so strong, the phenols have stronger acidity than the alcoholic compounds. The hydroxy acid on the phenol is usually between the fatty alcohol and the carboxylic acid (their pKa is usually between 10 and 12). When the hydroxyl group of the phenolic compound loses a proton (H +), it forms a corresponding negative ion form of the phenolic anion or an aryloxy anion, and the corresponding salt is called a phenate or aryloxy salt. ...
