After Germany's November Revolution in 1918 topple the German Empire, the right-wing leader of the Social-Democrats seized power and declared a republic. In February 1919, a constitutional assembly was held in Weimar to establish a republican government with Albert as the president and Scheideman as the prime minister. July passed the constitution, known as the "Weimar Constitution." After Hitler came to power in 1933, the "Weimar Constitution" ceased and the Weimar Republic ended.
