Patrimonio de la afectación
En la tradición del derecho civil el patrimonio de la afectación es un patrimonio, o derecho legal, que puede ser dividido para un propósito, como distinto del patrimonio general de la persona. Es similar al concepto de common law del fideicomiso en algunos aspectos en que la propiedad es mantenida por un administrador en beneficio de terceros. La propiedad permanece fuera del patrimonio del otorgante, por lo que si el otorgante se declara en quiebra o tiene pasivos, la propiedad permanece intocable y puede seguir beneficiando a los beneficiarios previstos.
