Agente antiestático
Un agente antiestático es un compuesto usado para el tratamiento de materiales o sus superficies con el fin de reducir o eliminar la acumulación de electricidad estática generalmente causada por el efecto triboeléctrico. Su función es hacer que la superficie o el material en sí sea ligeramente conductor, ya sea por ser conductivo en sí, o por absorber la humedad del aire, por lo que algunos humectantes pueden ser utilizados. Las moléculas de un agente antiestático a menudo tienen áreas hidrofílicas e hidrófobas, similares a las de un tensioactivo; El lado hidrofóbico interactúa con la superficie del material, mientras que el lado hidrofílico interactúa con la humedad del aire y une las moléculas de agua. Los agentes antiestáticos internos están diseñados para ser mezclados directamente en el material, se aplican agentes antiestáticos externos a la superficie. Los agentes antiestáticos comunes están basados en aminas y amidas alifáticas de cadena larga, sales de amonio cuaternario, ésteres de ácido fosfórico, ésteres de polietilenglicol o polioles. El óxido de indio de estaño se puede utilizar como recubrimiento antiestático transparente de ventanas. También es posible utilizar polímeros conductores, como PEDOT: PSS y nanofibras poliméricas conductoras, particularmente nanofibras de polianilina.
