Cheque de caja
Un cheque de cajero es un cheque garantizado por un banco, dibujado en fondos propios del banco y firmado por un cajero. Los cheques de caja son tratados como fondos garantizados porque el banco, en lugar del comprador, es responsable de pagar la cantidad. Son comúnmente necesarios para las transacciones de bienes raíces y corretaje. Cuando un cliente le pide a un banco un cheque de caja, el banco debita la cantidad de la cuenta del cliente inmediatamente, y entonces el banco asume la responsabilidad de cubrir el cheque del cajero. Esto contrasta con un cheque personal, en el que el banco no abona la cantidad de la cuenta del cliente hasta que el cheque sea depositado o cobrado por el beneficiario. Los cheques de caja depositados en una cuenta bancaria se liquidan generalmente al día siguiente. Es el derecho del cliente a solicitar "disponibilidad al día siguiente" al depositar un cheque de caja en persona. La mayoría de los bancos no los borran al instante. Sin embargo, a los bancos se les permite retirar el dinero de un cheque "liquidado" una o dos semanas más tarde si el proceso posterior lo considera fraudulento.
