El micrófono de carbono, también conocido como micrófono de botón de carbono, micrófono de botón o transmisor de carbono, es un tipo de micrófono, un transductor que convierte el sonido en una señal de audio eléctrica. Consta de dos placas de metal separadas por gránulos de carbono. Una placa es muy delgada y mira hacia afuera, actuando como un diafragma. Cuando las ondas sonoras golpean esta placa, la presión sobre los gránulos cambia, lo que a su vez cambia la resistencia eléctrica entre las placas. Una presión más alta reduce la resistencia a medida que los gránulos se empujan más juntos.
