Deflator
En las estadísticas, un deflactor es un valor que permite medir los datos a lo largo del tiempo en términos de un período base, generalmente a través de un índice de precios, para distinguir entre los cambios en el valor monetario de un producto nacional bruto que provienen de un cambio En los precios, y los cambios de un cambio en la producción física. Es la medida del nivel de precios para alguna cantidad. Un deflactor sirve como un índice de precios en el que los efectos de la inflación están anulados. Es la diferencia entre el PIB real y el nominal. En los Estados Unidos, los índices de precios de importación y exportación producidos por el Programa de Precios Internacionales se utilizan como deflactores en las cuentas nacionales. Por ejemplo, el producto interno bruto es igual a los gastos de consumo más la inversión neta más los gastos gubernamentales más las exportaciones menos las importaciones. Se utilizan varios índices de precios para "desinflar" cada componente del PIB para que las cifras del PIB sean comparables a lo largo del tiempo. Los índices de precios de importación se usan para deflactar el componente de importación y los índices de precios de exportación se usan para desinflar el componente de exportación.
