Marcación directa a distancia
La marcación directa a distancia o la marcación directa es un término de telecomunicaciones para una función de servicio proporcionada por la red en la que un originador de llamada puede, sin asistencia del operador, llamar a ningún otro usuario fuera del área de llamada local. DDD requiere más dígitos en el número marcado que los necesarios para llamar dentro del área local o código de área. DDD también se extiende más allá de los límites de la red telefónica pública nacional, en cuyo caso se denomina marcación directa internacional o marcación directa internacional directa. DDD es un término del Plan de Numeración de América del Norte que se considera obsoleto desde que se completó una llamada de cualquier manera que no sea la marcación directa. En el Reino Unido y en otras partes del Commonwealth de las Naciones, los términos equivalentes son o eran "STD", para la marcación de línea de abonado y "ISD" para la marcación internacional de abonados.
