Propiedad distributiva
En el álgebra abstracta y la lógica formal, la propiedad distributiva de las operaciones binarias generaliza la ley distributiva del álgebra elemental. En la lógica proposicional, la distribución se refiere a dos reglas válidas de reemplazo. Las reglas permiten reformular conjunciones y disyunciones dentro de pruebas lógicas. Por ejemplo, en aritmética: 2 · = +, pero 2 / ≠ +. En el lado izquierdo de la primera ecuación, el 2 multiplica la suma de 1 y 3; En el lado derecho, se multiplica el 1 y el 3 individualmente, con los productos añadidos después. Debido a que éstos dan la misma respuesta final, decimos que la multiplicación por 2 se distribuye por la adición de 1 y 3. Puesto que podríamos haber puesto números reales en lugar de 2, 1 y 3 arriba, y aún así hemos obtenido una ecuación verdadera, Dicen que la multiplicación de números reales se distribuye sobre la adición de números reales.
