Eduardo VI de Inglaterra
Eduardo VI fue rey de Inglaterra e Irlanda desde el 28 de enero de 1547 hasta su muerte. Fue coronado el 20 de febrero a la edad de nueve años. El hijo de Henry VIII y de Jane Seymour, Edward era el tercer monarca de la dinastía de Tudor y primer monarca de Inglaterra levantado como protestante. Durante el reinado de Eduardo, el reino fue gobernado por un Consejo de Regencia porque nunca llegó a su mayoría. El consejo primero fue conducido por su tío Edward Seymour, 1r duque de Somerset, y entonces por Juan Dudley, 1r conde de Warwick, de 1551 duque de Northumberland. El reinado de Edward estuvo marcado por problemas económicos y disturbios sociales que, en 1549, estallaron en disturbios y rebeliones. Una costosa guerra con Escocia, al principio exitosa, terminó con la retirada militar de Escocia, así como Boulogne-sur-Mer a cambio de la paz. La transformación de la Iglesia Anglicana en un cuerpo reconocible protestante también ocurrió bajo Eduardo, que se interesó mucho en asuntos religiosos.
