Platyhelminthes, Plathelminthes, o platyhelminths (del griego πλατύ, platy, que significa "plano" y ἕλμινς (raíz: ἑλμινθ-), helminth-, que significa gusano) son un filo de relativamente simple bilaterian, unsegmented, suave cuerpo Invertebrados. A diferencia de otros bilateros, son acoelomatos (sin cavidad corporal), y no tienen órganos circulatorios y respiratorios especializados, lo que los restringe a tener formas aplanadas que permiten que oxígeno y nutrientes pasen a través de sus cuerpos por difusión. La cavidad digestiva sólo tiene una abertura para la ingestión (ingesta de nutrientes) y la ingestión (eliminación de los desechos no digeridos); Como resultado, el alimento no puede procesarse continuamente. En los textos de zoología tradicional, Platyhelminthes se dividen en Turbellaria, que son en su mayoría animales no parasitarios, como los planarians, y tres grupos totalmente parasitarios: Cestoda, Trematoda y Monogenea; Sin embargo, puesto que los turbellarians se han demostrado desde entonces para no ser monophyletic, esta clasificación ahora es desaprobada.
