La geomorfología es el estudio científico de las formas terrestres y de los procesos que las modelan. Los geomorfólogos buscan entender por qué los paisajes se ven de la manera que lo hacen, para comprender la historia y la dinámica de la historia del terreno y para predecir los cambios a través de una combinación de observaciones de campo, experimentos físicos y modelización numérica. Geomorfología se practica dentro de geografía física, geología, geodesia, ingeniería geológica, arqueología y ingeniería geotécnica. Esta amplia base de interés contribuye a muchos estilos de investigación e intereses dentro del campo.
