Gotha es la quinta ciudad más grande de Turingia, Alemania, situada a 20 kilómetros al oeste de Erfurt y 25 km al este de Eisenach con una población de 44.000 habitantes. La ciudad es la capital del distrito de Gotha y también fue una residencia de Ernestine Wettins desde 1640 hasta el final de la monarquía en Alemania en 1918. La Casa de Sajonia-Coburgo y Gotha originario de aquí generó muchos gobernantes europeos, incluyendo las casas reales De Inglaterra, Bélgica, Portugal y Bulgaria.
