Grande-Terre
Grande-Terre Island es el nombre de la mitad oriental de Guadalupe, en las Antillas Menores. Está separado de la otra mitad de la isla de Guadalupe, Basse-Terre, por un estrecho canal marítimo llamado Rivière Salée. Pointe de la Grande Vigie, en Grande-Terre, es el punto más septentrional de la isla de Guadalupe. A pesar de su nombre, Grande-Terre es más pequeña que la isla de Basse-Terre. Se llamaba así, en contraste con las mucho más pequeñas Islas Petite Terre, dos islas muy pequeñas ubicadas a unos 10 km al sureste de la Grande-Terre. La costa de Grande-Terre está rodeada por arrecifes de coral y la isla en sí es una meseta de piedra caliza. Su superficie es una serie de colinas, playas de arena blanca y acantilados. Las playas de la isla consisten en arenas blancas y negras, así como playas de arena dorada. De las dos islas, Grande-Terre es el hogar de la mayoría de las tierras de labranza de Guadalupe y centros turísticos. Isla Grande-Terre desde el espacio, septiembre de 1994.
