Dracunculus medinensis
Dracunculus medinensis o gusano de Guinea es un nematodo que causa la dracunculiasis, también conocida como enfermedad de gusano de Guinea. La enfermedad es causada por el nematodo femenino grande de D. medinensis, que está entre los nematodos más largos que infectan a seres humanos. La hembra adulta es mucho más grande que el macho adulto. En 2009, la mujer adulta más larga registrada fue de 800 mm, mientras que el adulto mayor era de sólo 40 mm. Sin embargo, para 2014, como la erradicación fue casi completa.
