Epístola a los Hebreos
Epístola a los hebreos, o Carta a los hebreos, es el nombre tradicional de un texto que los manuscritos griegos del Nuevo Testamento llamaron simplemente a los hebreos. Los eruditos de griego consideran que su escritura es más pulida y elocuente que cualquier otro libro del Nuevo Testamento. Desde los primeros días de la Iglesia, se ha debatido la autoría y la canonicidad. Presumiblemente una vez conocido y respetado por los lectores de la epístola, el autor se hizo desconocido y hoy se describe a menudo como incognoscible. El libro se ha ganado la reputación de ser una "obra maestra". También ha sido descrito como un "intrincado" libro del Nuevo Testamento. Los eruditos creen que Hebreos fue escrito para los cristianos judíos que vivieron en Jerusalén. Su propósito era exhortar a los cristianos a perseverar ante la persecución. El tema central de la epístola es la doctrina de la Persona de Cristo y su papel como mediador entre Dios y la humanidad. El escritor de la Carta a los Hebreos estaba comprometido con el bienestar espiritual de sus receptores. La epístola se abre con una exaltación de Jesús como "el resplandor de la gloria de Dios, la imagen expresa de su ser y sosteniendo todas las cosas con su poderosa palabra".
