El surgimiento heliaco de una estrella ocurre cuando por primera vez se hace visible por encima del horizonte oriental por un breve momento justo antes del amanecer, después de un período de tiempo en que no había sido visible. Cada día después de la subida heliaca, la estrella se elevará un poco más temprano y permanecerá visible durante más tiempo antes de que la luz del sol naciente la haga desaparecer.
