Judah Halevi era un médico, un poeta y un filósofo judíos españoles. Nació en España, en Toledo o Tudela, en 1075 o 1086, y murió poco después de llegar a Israel en 1141. Halevi es considerado uno de los más grandes poetas hebreos, celebrado tanto por sus poemas religiosos como seculares, muchos de los cuales aparecen En la liturgia actual. Su mayor obra filosófica fue The Kuzari.
