Linsangs es un nombre originalmente javanés aplicado a cuatro especies de mamíferos carnívoros que habitan en los árboles. Las dos especies africanas pertenecen a la familia Viverridae, las dos especies asiáticas pertenecen a la familia Prionodontidae. Ambos géneros linsang fueron colocados anteriormente en la subfamilia Viverrinae, junto con varios otros géneros, pero la investigación reciente sugiere que sus relaciones reales pueden ser algo diferentes.
